Ecosystem function and services is and important field and hot issues of ecological system researchs. The function of regional ecological system heterogeneity that mainly resulted from variation of geographical conditions and human being activities. Along with the speed of urbanization, the problems such as the contradiction between supple and demand of water resources, serious water pollution, shortage of ecological water uses, water ecological deterioration have increased. Therefore, restoration and protection of aquatic ecosystem are key in points in watershed management. Freshwater ecoregion zoing is performed in Jinan city, and water ecological features of the ecoregions are assessed, which may provide support for the water environment management in the area. Main contents in this study includes:1) According to the DPSIR(Driving force-Pressure-State-Impact-Response) framework that are picked out the reasonably indicators for aquatic ecoregion lever Ⅰ、Ⅱ、and lever Ⅲ. Based on correlation analysis and spatial variation scale between environment factors and related aquatic factors to build the indicators system of aquatic ecological function. Combination of indicators and Jinan city water function regionalization have conducted the function indentified and named. First, in order to determine the exact spatial scales at which the environment elements show that elevation of spatial autocorrelation distance to 53 km. It is appropriate indicators for large-scale analysis in Jinan. Elevation extracted by Jinan three watershed boundary, which the factors as the primary partition index. Forest types are suitable for mesoscale partition,while the average annual precititation and annual evaporation of spatial autocorrelation at the scales of 430 km above, comparing Jinan city area is too large to applicable as the index. The population density can reflect socio-economic impact to applicable indicator for aquatic ecoregion level Ⅱ on the basis of space affecting mechanism of natural factors-human activity-response. In addition, elevation, land use and population density basically has a significant relation with water quality and biological factors, suggesting that these indicators is closely with freshwater ecological for Jinan city. According to hydrological factors and ecological factors for the scale of river, chooseing the water quality、flow、benthic diversity index、habitat quality as the indicator for aquatic ecoregion leverⅢ on the basis of CCA analysis with benthic community structures.2) Principles for aquatic ecoregion zoning are stated, and the “top-down” and “bottom-up” methods are proposed for aquatic ecoregion zoning, The “top-down”method is towards a comprehensive understanding of the spatial patterns of environment and may provide a ecological or geophysical interpretation for zoning; while the “bottom-up” method is designed for the principle of regional conjugation, it combines inferior similar units into superior ecoregions by the integrality of units.3) On the basis of freshwater ecoregion, water environment features and health assessment are assessed by using the sampling data collected in 2014 and 2015. Results show that southern region of the yellow river in Jinan area showed better water environment,while the northern Tuhai majihe area and eastern area Xiao qing area surface pollution is more serious, generally presented from south to north and west to east trends of the degree of pollution diffusion. Benthic animals health assessed show that Ⅲ-2-2 has the healthiest aquatic ecosystem, while a worst condition of aquatic ecosystem is found in other ecoregions. Overall, the different aquatic ecoregion has a difference aquatic ecosystem degree of health and water quality, which may provide support for the decision making on management under the aquatic ecoregion framework. For example, agricultural pollution is the main pollution source in Ⅰ-1-1,then the using of chemical fertilizer and pesticides should be strictly controled.
