Experiments showed that the process flash nickel plating can significantly improve the quality of the coating of the galvanized steel sheet. The uniformity of the nickel plating layer is closely related to the flowing state of the electrolyte. It is essential for stable operation of flash plating that the fluid is evenly distributed throughout the reaction zone. Besides, the flash plating is performed in a short time and the current is very large, so strict requirements put on the velocity and the uniformity of the electrolyte. It is essential to design proper structure of the flow channel system.Based on the computational fluid dynamics software, numerical simulation is carried on for the flow field of the flash plating tank. Through simulation, the best parameters of the structure of the flow channel system is determined, including the parameters of the inlet pipe, the buffer slant, the electrolyte baffele,and the damping plate. Besides, a laboratory bench is designed to validate the simulation.The final design of the flash plating tank is determined and has been successfully applied in the engineering practice.A new pipe scheme has been used. In this scheme, the electrolyte is piped in at the middle of the cushion chamber and it can make the electrolyte more evenly distributed in the two branch pipe. Besides, A baffle is used at the outlet, and it can effectively increase the velocity of the electrolyte and the proportion of effective flow. A damping plate is used in the cushion chamber. Experiments show that it can effectively improve the uniformity of the flow field, and the simulation to the the damping plate hole distribution on flow field uniformity of the law. All the design has been used in engineering applications and has achieved good results.
