| In recent years, twin-roll casting, as a kind of semi-solid processing technology, has been received widespread attentions of the experts and scholars for its low energy consumption, low production cost and short procedure. And it has achieved remarkable progresses. But it also exists many problems to be solved urgently. The quality problems of the cast-rolling strip hinders the course of industrialization. Compared with traditional rolling process, twin-roll strip casting is hard to control because its high productivity regimes, which leads to the formation of microdefects, such as shape defects, segregation phenomena, coarse grains and poor mechanical property. Based on the above-mentioned defects, a new kind of oscillating twin-roll strip caster is being designed and manufactured by our research group. The underlying principle of the vibratory twin roll caster is try to increase mixing effect viavibrations which brings changes of flow field and temperature field of the molten pool, and then to make some influence on the strip solidification process.Exerting mechanical oscillation during casting solidification, once achieve the purpose of improving the quality of the strip, is of great significance and value to realizing casting technology industrialization.In this paper, the main work and studies are as follows.The oscillating casting process is simulated by ANSYS Fluent software in order to discuss the influence rules of differernt oscillating parameters on the flow flied and temperture flied of the molten pool. During the research, it has been found that the intensity and scale of the velocity in the pool incerase with the frequency or amplitude increase, as a result, the chemical compositions in the molten pool become more homogenous. The mechanical oscillation can also enhance heat transfer in the molten pool.Experimental tests are made on the oscillating twin-roll strip caster domestically developed in laboratory.The casting plates are manufactured on differernt oscillating parameters.Macro-defects of the strip are analyzed and preventive measures are proposed. And the microstructural analyses and mechanical properties of the strips are made. |
