Coordination polymers (CPs) with infinite periodic network structure are prepared by self assembly of metalions and organic ligands which possess advantages over traditional inorganic or organic materials. They have received remarkable attention as functional materials not only due to their fascinating structures and novel topologies but also to their important applications, such as gas storage, separations, and luminescence, etc.In this paper, CPs have been prepared by organic carboxylate ligands and transition metal ions and performed by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Not only powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetrie analysis (TGA) and fluorescence, but also the factors that impact the synthesis of some CPs were researched.We chose [1,1’-biphenyl]-2,4,4’,6-tetracarboxylic acid (H4BPTC) as the carboxylic ligand,4,4’-bipyridine (4,4-bpy) as N-donor ancillary ligands and Cd2+, Zn2+ to synthesize two CPs under hydrothermal conditions, [Cd3(HBPTC)2(4,4’-bpy)2] (1) and [Zn2(BPTC)(H20)]-(4,4’-bpy)o.s (2). They have 3D structures simplified as 4,10-connected and 5-connected topological net, respectively. Compound 1 and 2 have high thermal stabilities and the fluorescent properties have also been studied.We chose 4,4’-oxybisbenzoic acid (H2OBA) as the carboxylic ligand, 4,4’-bis(4-pyridyl)biphenyl (BPBP) and 1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)benzene (BPB) as linear N-donor ancillary ligands and Zn2+ to synthesize two CPs under solvothermal conditions, [Zn2(OBA)2(BPBP)]·2DMF (3) and [Zn2(OBA)2(BPB)]·DMF (4). Compound 3 and 4 have 3D structures and display 6-connected topological nets.3 has high thermal stability and the fluorescent property has also been studied.We also chose 4,4’-sulfonyldibenzoic acid (H2sdba) as the carboxylic ligand and Co2+ to prepare two CPs, [Co5(sdba)6]·pyz·H2O (5) and [Co2O2(sdba)2(DMF)7] (6). They have 2D and 1D structures, respectively.
