The Cd(II) absorption characteristics of nano-zero-valent iron particles(NZVI), different carbon materials and chitosan@ZNI in water solution under different conditions are investigated, and the advantages and disadvantages over traditional absorption method are evaluated. NZVI with different dispersion degrees, active carbon powder, chitosan@ZNI, single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWNTs), multi-wall carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) and chitosan are prepared, and the Cd(II) absorption characteristics under the different pH values, contact times, initial Cd(II) concentrations, the existence of foreign heavy metals and different amounts of absorbent are compared. It is found that NZVI have relatively higher Cd(II) absorption efficiency; compared with SWNTs and WWNTs, active carbon has higher absorption efficiency; the absorption efficiency of chitosan@ZNI is higher than individual chitosan or NZVI. NZVI, carbon materials and chitosan@ NZVI all have satisfactory Cd(II) absorption efficiency, and have value of usage and popularization..
