Nickel is used in people’s daily life widely, but the production of nickel used in traditional electrolytic method can not meet the increasing demand of the market. With the development of science and technology, many domestic and foreign smelting enterprises have started to research the automatic production lines of electrolytic nickel. The assembly process of the starting sheet is the highest degree of automation, and the time assembling the lugs, the board and the conductive rod together is only 3 seconds. Most of the methods used in the production of nickel starting sheet are still used in the production of copper starting sheet. But because of the different material properties of the copper and nickel,nickel lugs which aren’t folded neatly often appear in the production.This phenomenon can diminish the quality of nickel lugs, which can reduce the production efficiency.Thus,it’s important to research the bending and forming of the nickel lugs.This paper improved process of traditional ear bending, namely changing the horizontal bending to the longitudinal bending. By using a special curved ears send earphone, the quality of nickel ear sheet forming has been improved obviously. According to the theory of metal plastic forming, this paper researches and analyzes the internal stress distribution of nickel lugs respectively in the stage of elastic deformation, the stage of elastic-plastic deformation and the stage of pure plastic deformation.And lists some factors that influence the quality of nickel lugs’ forming. Thro ugh studying of datum from the experiments,it gets the thickness distribution of nickel plate and the basic mechanical properties of nickel.By using the finite element software named DEFORM-3D,this paper proceeds the simulation of the bending process of nickel lug. According to the distribution of the stress and strain and the law of metal flow,the paper analyzes the reasons why the nickel lugs aren’t folded neatly. Taking the height difference of mouth as the evaluation index, the orthogonal experiment is designed.It optimizes the combination of factors that influence the quality of nickel lugs’ forming by using range analysis and variance analysis.Finally,By using the experiment of nickel lugs’ forming,it verifies the accuracy of the simulation and the analysis of the data of orthogonal experiment.The paper analyzes the process of nickel lugs’ forming by simulation and experiment.Through measuring several thickness of the nickel plate,it concludes the distribution trend of nickel plate’s thickness,making the simulation more accuracy.Then,it optimizes the factors that influence the nickel lugs’ forming by using the orthogonal experiment. The conclusions of this paper can reduce the cost and increase efficiency,and provide references for the actual production of nickel lugs as well as.
