As one of the most important part of Electric Submersible pump unit(hereafter ESP),protector has following function: isolate well fluid and provide lubricating oil for motor,balance pressure inside and outside of motor as well as protect motor. Meanwhile, it will transfer the torque to ESP, and undertake the axial force of ESP. With more and more using of ESP, ESP series and models have also become more and more perfect. In order to meet different and complex well conditions of oilfield, it is required to improve the design and manufacture ability of ESP.With widely using of high flowrate protector all over the world, it needs advanced design to meet complex well conditions, so universal and standard design, and optimized design for key parts of protector are our main target.Universal and standard design means that we can get different structure of proctor through various assembling, it not only can meet the requirement of customer, and it also can reduce manufacture working force, decrease the type and stock of parts, then reduce the production cost.The research of key parts of protector is to improve the reliability and adaptability of the ESP.This article through optimized design of key parts, such as seals, check valve, thrust bearing,oil path, universal chamber etc., as well as through theoretical analysis and testing to meet the requirement of design, finally improved the reliability of the protector.
