Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are carcinogenic and mutagenic trace chemicals in the atmosphere. They mainly come from the process of burning of fossil fuels and biomass.Because of their persistence, toxicity and long distance migration, they may have been a potential risk to human health. Yanji city is located on north-east China. There are nearly six months of heating period, and in recent years, the number of automobiles increased rapidly with the economic development. Other articles have reported that two main source of atmospheric PAHs are combustion in heating period and tail gas from vehicle respectively. In this study, we aimed to detect atmospheric PAHs in downtown of Yanji city (11 sites) by PUF disk passive air samplers that were deployed for consecutive 1-2months periods from March 2015 to January 2016. The sampling campaign was conducted seasonally a total of 4 times. As a result, total pah concentrations showed a seasonality. It was highest in winter. EPAHs also showed a spatial trend, with a decrease from suburban to urban. The atmospheric PAHs were mainly dominated by Naphthalene and Phenanthrene in Yanji city.
