Nowadays, industrial waste has polluted our environment seriously which caused by backward production technology and weak awareness of environmental protection during industrial production. A large number of industrial waste needs to be treated immediately. The treatment and disposal of industrial waste has become a bottleneck restricting the development of the national economic growth and industry. This work concentrated on evaluating the performance of hydrogen sulfide removal by chromium slag and steel slag. Then achieves the recycling and comprehensive utilization of steel slag and chromium slag, thereby, the purification of hydrogen sulfide gas.Experiment of chromium slag for the removal of hydrogen sulfide was carried out in different particle size, concentration of hydrogen sulfide, temperature and humidity. X Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (SEM-EDS) were used to explore the characteristic of the surface and composition of chromium slag particles, deduce the mechanism of the purification process and investigate the effect of hexavalent chromium reduction. The results showed that the performance of the removal of hydrogen sulfide was influenced by all factors above, among them, the effect of moisture content was significant compared with other factors and the rate of purification was 98% under optimum conditions. It was found that the hexavalent chromium in chromium slag was reduced during removal process, the maximum of reduction rate was 74.25% which was effectively improved by increasing the humidity of chromium slag. The conditions including particle size of steel slag, concentration of hydrogen sulfide, reaction temperature and moisture content used to discuss the effect of the purification of hydrogen sulfide by steel slag. The results showed that humidity played an important role in this process, other conditions could also influence the purification efficiency. The removal rate of hydrogen sulfide reached 98.86% under appropriate conditions in this study.
