With the progress of society and the development of industry, human demand for more and more fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum. With the increasing of crude oil production, less and less light crude oil were mined. However, the heavy crude oil are abundant relatively. Therefore the demand for crude oil will be satisfied by heavy crude oil in the future society. The composition of heavy crude oil is extremely complex and due to the large amount of resin, asphaltene and paraffin in the heavy crude oil, it has the features of high viscosity, high pour point and poor fluidity. There is a great significance for oilfield chemistry to reduce the viscosity and points of the heavy crude oil and there will be the difficult and hot problem in oilfield chemistry research in recent years. The method of adding chemical pour point depressant, which has the advantages of small adding amount, simple operation and no post-processing, is considered to be the most efficient method to solve the problem in high wax oil production and transportation.The terpolymer poly(Itaconate-Octadecyl Methacrylate-Maleic anhydride), which has long side chains, was synthesized by the method of solution polymerization and the solution is ethanol. Taking the pour point depression effect as assessment index and, the ratio of monomer, the reaction temperature, the reaction time and dosage of initiator were determined through orthogonal test. The structure and property of the polymer was characterized and analyzed by FT-IR, HNMR, TGA, DSC and TEM. Taking the Qingtie line of Tieling station and Daqing crude oil as research objects, tested the effect of the oil-soluble pour point depressant. With the increase of dosage of pour point depressant, the temperature of pour point decreased and then the temperature increased. At the best dosage of the concentration of 700 ppm, the pour point of the Daqing high wax crude oil decreased by 6.2℃. However, it decreased by 7.0℃ for the Tieling high wax crude oil at the best dosage of the concentration of 500 ppm. At the same time, the polymer has an effect about the viscosity for the Crude oil BRUNDA GE and Crude oil L.CANYON. At the temperature of 40℃, the apparent viscosity ratio of the polymer is 56.6% and 33.33% respectively.The terpolymer poly(1-decene-Octadecyl Methacrylate-Maleic anhydride), which has long side chains, was synthesized by the method of solution polymerization and the solution is ethanol. At the temperature of 40 ℃, the apparent viscosity ratio of the polymer is 47.1% and 54.4% respectively.The mechanism of two kinds of oil-soluble pour point depressants was analyzed and explored. The two kinds of pour point depressants have long chains structure. The pour point depressants will be the crystal nucleus after wax crystal precipitation and maybe adsorb on the wax crystal. The structure reduce the specific surface area and change the surface properties of wax crystal, decrease the surface energy, hinder the wax crystal aggregation and grow up and the liquidity of high wax crude oil will be improved. Thus reduced pour point of the high wax crude oil drastically.
