Cuprous oxide is a kind of important inorganic chemical materials, which is extensively used in the fields of coating, glass, ceramics, plastics, industrial catalysis, agriculture and other fields. The consumption of cuprous oxide increases for the past few years. Though there are many methods to prepare cuprous oxide currently, it is not easy to get cuprous oxide with high purity, uniform dispersion and stable characterization, and many methods are very complicated in operation. Industrial cuprous oxide HG2961-2010 standard is released after implementation, cuprous oxide product quality requirements also increase accordingly. The original cuprous oxide preparation technology already can’t adapt to the new industry standard, so we urgently need a new optimization technology to improve product quality. Therefore, in the research we focus on how to improve the purity of product, reduce the impurity content, improve the powder dispersibility and decrease the toxic chemical reagents used.Cuprous oxide is prepared by electrolytic process, the sample was analyzed and characterized by using chemical analysis, SEM and XRD. The results showed that the main factor which influenced the production were the dosage of reactant, reaction time, reaction temperature and electrolysis current density. The optimal experiment conditions were 4.30 mol/L NaCl, 0.025 mol/L NaOH, 0.0002 mol/L Ca(C6H11O7)2, the reaction temperature was 80℃, the current density was 1000A/m2. Adding calcium gluconate as additives in electrolytic process, we can get high purity cuprous oxide, and no pollution to the environment, accord with the requirement of green chemistry. Cuprous oxide can be prepared from cupric sulfate and sodium sulfite solution, the sample was analyzed and characterized by using chemical analysis, SEM and XRD. The results showed that the main factor which influenced the production were the concentration of copper ion, the ration of copper ion and sodium sulfite, reaction temperature, reaction time and reaction pH. The optimal experiment conditions required that 100 ℃, pH= 4.5, 1.25 mol/L Cu2+, the ratio of sodium sulfite and copper sulfate dosage was 1.9:1 and the reaction time was 2 hours. Cuprous oxide can be prepared from copper chloride and sodium sulfite solution, the optimal experiment conditions were 6.35 mol/L Cl-, 2.50 mol/L Cu2+, pH=8.5 and reaction time was 2 hours. Cuprous oxide can be prepared from the waste etching solution of printed circuit boards. The optimal experiment conditions were that reaction temperature was 55℃, the time of heat preservation was 5 hours, the heat preservation temperature was 70℃.With main cuprous oxide products at home and abroad for comparison, we found that the method of liquid phase reduction has reached the highest international level. Waste etching solution of printed circuit boards as copper ion source can reduce the production cost, so it was a kind of low cost and high quality of the preparation methods of cuprous oxide.
