A Study On Multifunctional Furniture Dictated To Dwelling Narrowness

Abstract:As a buzzword, "dwelling narrowness" at first means the shape. The Chinese character "Wo" means the residential circumstance in the Romance of Three Kingdoms-one of the four Chinese famous classic books, and then the meaning turned into small houses. And suitable furniture will play an important role in the limited interior space. By now, there is only few kinds of multifunctional furniture that is dedicated to small dwellings. So it is essential to conduct a study on multifunctional furniture design dedicated to small dwellings. This paper will make a brief introduction on the basic theory of multifunctional furniture design and its concept in dwelling narrowness, and make analysis of multifunctional furniture market from the consumers’psychology and behaviors. And combined with design cases from both home and abroad, this paper will make concrete analysis of considerations that can be used in the design, like shape, space, color, user’s psychology and so on. Based on the general cognitive need and small dwellings multifunctional furniture design analysis, the paper will quote the word "flattening" to put forward some ideas about the development trend for multifunctional furniture in small dwellings and provides references to the following research.
