| In recent years, due to the shortage of papermaking raw materials and environmental issue, deinking recycled paper has been widely accepted for its low energy consumption and less pollution. However, limited by its poor printability, deinking recycled paper was mainly applied in producing low grade paper or newspaper. Aiming to produce low cost and environmental friendly coated deinking recycled paper with good performance, cheap conventional pigments was used and studied in this thesis. The influence of blending ratio of clay and GCC on optical properties especially printability of coated deinking recycled paper were investigated. With increasing coarse GCC in pre-coating, it was found that the brightness and the roughness of pre-coated deinking recycled paper were increased and the gloss was decreased. Blending ratio of clay and fine GCC of top coat had little effect on the roughness of coated deinking recycled paper. The gloss and printing gloss of coated deinking recycled paper decreased with the increasing of fine GCC, while the brightness was increased and the surface strength was slightly decreased. In this research, biological latex was used to partly replace styrene-butadiene latex in pre-coating, top coating or both. The effect of biological latex on the properties of coated deinking recycled paper was researched. And the study found that the brightness of the coated deinking recycled paper increased and the gloss decreased, especially when biological latex used in top coat the gloss decreased obviously. The print gloss of the coated paper slightly increased with increasing bio-latex used in pre-coating, but the surface strength decreased greatly and the roughness increased. When the substitution of carboxyl styrene butadiene latex by bio-latex increased in the top coat, there was little difference in the roughness and the surface strength of coated paper, but the print gloss decreased obviously. It had slight effect on the surface strength of the coated paper when the bio-latex was used both in the pre-coating and top coating. Compared with the using of bio-latex in the top coat, it had less effect on the print gloss of the coated paper. The results showed that the print gloss is equal to the blank when 5 parts bio-latex replacing styrene-butadiene latex in pre-coating and 3 parts bio-latex replacing styrene-butadiene latex in top coat were applied. |
