In recent years, the research on the design and manufacture of the CNC cutting tools is very popular.The complex three dimensional shape and microstructure is more and more taking seriously.The corresponding detection technology and instrument have been developed. For the simple shape of CNC cutting tools, the detection technology usually adopt digital optical projector and image processing system. For three dimension complex shape precision CNC tool detection, the detection technology mostly using 3D non-contact profiler to measure.The method has high accuracy. But due to mechanical probe in the measuring process; this method need to contact with the tool’s surface.The probe is easily damaged and has poor reproducibility of the measurement. Therefore, investigating a non-contact measurement method for getting the bar blade parameters of Oerlikon’s spiral bevel gear facer based on binocular vision is very important. Making an accurate measurement system for the blade profile parameters has very important practical value and significance.Machine vision dection is a kind of fast and non-contact measurement method.It has been widely applied to the product quality testing, three-dimensional surface profile measurement, etc.. Machine vision is also used in the measurement of gear cutting tool.It is more widely used in the two-dimensional plane measurement based on monocular vision.The three-dimensional measurement is limited by the resolution of the optical system and the size of image pixels, cannot obtain the 3D contour data of a tool. The method cannot satisfy the development requirements of the equipment manufacturing industry.So, this paper designed a non-contact measuring system based on binocular vision. The system improved the measurement speed and accuracy.This paper mainly include:1) Introduction to this topic research significance and research status at home and abroad;2) Around the system for measuring the parameters of the blade, it is mainly discusses the single camera calibration, stereo calibration, image preprocessing, stereo image rectifiy, feature points matching and 3D reconstruction theory;3) According to the measurement method, it developped the hardware of bar blade parameters of Oerlikon’s spiral bevel gear facer;4) According to the theoretical research on the measurement method for the parameters of the cutting tools, the software was designed and programed.It mianly include:image acquisition, the edge contour extraction and feature point extraction, three-dimensional reconstruction, and output system, etc;5) Finally the experiment has been done to verifying the algorithm and softwar,it is mianly include:the accuracy of calibraton and the accuracy of 3D reconstruction.The experiment results show that the method and the accuracy of measurement is validated.
