With the continuous growth of China’s natural gas consumption, underground gas storage facilities of natural gas reserves are constantly developing to ensure safe guard the stable supply of natural gas in China. The safe operation of gas storage has an extremely important role. Safe operation of the compressor system of an important part of underground gas storage directly affects the normal operation of the gas storage. It’s disadvantage for compressor system to risk assessment so that we can identify the potential risk factors which are existing in its production and reduce the probability of accidents and help to ensure the safety production of underground gas storage.Based on the abundant understanding of gas storage compressor technology, firstly the author identifies risk factors about materials and equipment during process of compressor system to find out the risk factor which leads compressor system to invalid. Then author establish fault tree model about compressor system invalided by Logical reasoning and make use of structure important degree to arrange each basic event of fault tree by the degree of risk. At same time, focusing on the basic events which have the highest risk. Based on the extensive collecting statistical data of gas storage compressor failure modes, author use FMEA analysis to research the gas storage compressor system in line with RCM. The author divides compressor system to subsystem and research different component of each subsystem to find out origin of fault and propose solution. According to different failure modes and their causes with FEMA risk assessment criteria to get corresponding consequences level of each feature. Finally combining risk matrix to Sum up all consequences levels and defining structure important degree of every component of compressor. Focusing on the high and medium risk level feature to put forward corresponding accident prevention measures and repair service. The third part of this article is the gas storage compressor explosion studies. Equipment corrosion, friction loss, management negligence and so on would be lead to compressor system explosion when compressor was compressing natural gas. Then using entropy method to calculate explosion energy of compressor system to estimate the influence scope of explosion, and calculating the intensity of the blast by TNT equivalent model and the damage radius caused by shock wave overpressure.
