Hydrophobically Associated Water-soluble Polymer has a special structure. It has broad application prospects in many areas. Hydrophobic Hydrophobically Associated Water-soluble Polymer had better performances than HPAM in thermal stability, temperature tolerance and salt-resistant properties, so that it has been widely used in Enhanced Oil Recovery.Howerver, because of intramolecular and intermolecular association in HAWSP solution, there are a lot of macromolecular aggregations in HAWSP solution and molecular of HAWSP did not disperse in solution in the form of single molecular. Studying the molecular characterization of hydrophobic associating polymers is too difficult, such as determining hydrophobic association polymer molecular weight and its distribution. Finding suitable solvent condition that could eliminate the hydrophobic association and real molecular weight of HAWSP can be measured. Establishing a new method of determining molecular weight distribution of Hydrophobically Associated Water-soluble Polymer. The main experiment results are listed as follows:1. A series of Hydrophobically Associated Water-soluble Polymer were Synthesized and characterized by using IR and 1HNMR.2. Study on the effect of the concentration of formamide or 1,3-propylene glycol on hydrophobic association. Finding the optimized solvent condition that can eliminate completely hydrophobic association:formamide or 1,3-propylene glycol volume fraction of 50%. When hydrophobic association was eliminated completely, investigating the effect of the concentration of NaCl on polyelectrolyte effect.3. The real molecular weight of HAWSP was measured at the formamide or 1,3-propylene glycol volume fraction of 50% and the values of K and a of Mark-Houwink equation, respectively, were 0.273,0.532 on the 50% 1,3-propylene glycol,0.2mol/L NaCl.4. According to the principle of membrane separation, a series of molecular weight of the polymer were obtained with different pore microporous membranes and a method.of measuring the molecular weight distribution of polymer were established.5. Based on the principle of cationic/anionic ions interact, a method of a hydrophobic monomer content titration was established,2’,7’-dichlorofluorescein as an indicator.6. Study on the effect of the hydrophobic monomer content and molecular weight distribution on HAWSP solution properties (thermal stability, temperature tolerance and salt-resistant properties).
