With the accelerated development of China’s urbanization, the steady growth of the total amount of wastewater discharge, the task of sewage treatment is increasingly grim. However, the sewage sludge has not been fully utilized. Sludge aerobic fermentation become the future trend of the use of sludge topics. Because in the process of aerobic fermentation, the turning and polishing operation has become the most important part, so the research and development of a suitable for sludge fermentation tank of the turning machine has practical application value.This article mainly aims at troughed compost turner were studied. Through the exploration and practice of the turning and polishing operation of sludge compost, we designed a troughed compost turner. The overall mechanical structure and characteristics of the design of the troughed compost turner were described and analyzed, and a more accurate model of troughed compost turner is established by Solid Edge, which is convenient for finite element analysis. The finite element analysis method of Solid Edge is used to calculate the static and dynamic characteristics of the most important parts of the roller. According to the result of static and dynamic characteristic analysis, the main reason of the excessive deformation is analyzed, and the improved scheme of the roller suspension is put forward. After analysis and comparison, the improved structure can meet the requirements of strength and stiffness. Finally we completed the design task.
