Mineral resources are the important material basis of our national economy, social development and people’s life. But when people make the large-scale development and utilization in the coal resources, the original ecological environment quality in mine was severely damaged, and arise a series of ecological and environmental problems, such as surface subsidence, water and soil pollution, land productivity decreased. So in order to realize the sustainable development of economy and society and ecological environment of mining area, to resolve the contradiction between coal mining and environmental protection, we must to find the reason of the decline of the ecological environment quality in the coal mine area, and a scientific and objective ecological environment evaluation of coal mining area is essential.Huainan coal mining area as an example in this paper,Based on RS and GIS technology, integrated use of land use change, soil erosion monitoring, ecological environmental quality assessment and grey model prediction theory and method, analysis the evolution of main ecological environment factor of Huainan mining area in 1986 to 2012 years. then carries on the ecological environment quality of comprehensive evaluation in 1986,1999 and 2012 Huainan mining area, and forecast the future decades of mining area ecological environment quality and development trend., in order to provide a scientific basis for the sustainable development of mining area. The main results of this paper are as follows:(1)Based on RS and GIS technology, we overlay analysis the geographic data of Huainan mining area in 1986,1999 and 2012, study the variation of land use/land cover, soil erosion, natural environment quality and other ecological environmental quality factors of Huainan mining area, and to reveal the inherent law of the change.(2)According to the different space-time conditions of coal mining and ecological environment coupling effect analysis, to identify the dominant factor of the evolution of ecological environment in coal mining area, The 18 evaluation index represent of the characteristics of the ecological environment changes in coal mining areas from two aspects of ecosystem stability index and the interference index, established the ecological environment quality evaluation index system applicable to the large-scale coal mining area, and a correction method to determine the weight of each evaluation factor by analytic hierarchy process and entropy technology.(3)Construction of the ecological environment quality evaluation model and the evaluation standard of ecological environment quality in large scale coal mine area. Taking Huainan mining area as an example, the ecological environment quality of 1986,1999 and 2012 was evaluated comprehensively, and the law of ecological environment quality was obtained, and the reason of the decline of ecological environment quality in mining area was analyzed.(4)According to the results of different in Huainan mining area ecological environment quality evaluation. Analysis the spatial and temporal variation in the potential rules, using grey prediction model for predict the decades ecological environment development trend in Huainan coal mining area.
