Phthalate esters, environmental hormones, are mainly used as plasticizer and softeners, etc. However, They are carcinogenic and teratogenic. This article established a method to detect phthalates from polyethylene film by GC-MS. The migration of phthalate esters from plastic packaging into five kinds of food simulants were investigated under normal conditions of storage and microwave heating, which was to lay the foundation for further research about phthalate migration in food contact materials.A method of detecting 16 kinds of phthalate esters by GC-MS was developed and optimized. The linear ranges of di-isobutyl phthalate (DIBP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) both are 1-500 ug/L(S/N=3). We established a liquid-liquid extraction method for phthalate esters in five food simulants, the extraction recovery of DIBP and DBP were 70.14%-97.86%.and 70.01% - 81.95%, respectively. A method combining accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) with GC-MS was developed and successfully applied for the detection of the initial phthalate concentration in Polyethylene cling film. Moreover, the content of phthalates esters in various commercially available polyethylene film and bag of were detected.Under normal storage conditions, DIBP and DBP were selected to research the migration in five food stimulates (Distilled water、3% acetic acid、10% ethano、n-hexane、 iso-octane). The results showed that the migration levels of DIBP and DBP increased with time and temperature.Under microwave conditions,DIBP and DBP were researched in two food stimulates The results showed that the migration levels of DIBP and DBP increased with time and microwave power. We used Crank theory to fit the experimental data. Conclusions showed that the strong polar of food simulation system has a weak affinity with phthalates, which lead to lesser extent impact on plastic wrap. But, in weak polar food simulation system, plastic wraps were more likely to swell and have the greater solubility in low polar phthalates. Thus, a greater rate constant k1 and initial release rate vo were showed.
