In order to achieve the target which the GHG emissions per unit of GDP in 2020 decreases by 40%-45%when compared to the level of 2005, it needs to decompose the overall goal to every industry. As a high energy consumption and high emission industry, reducing aluminum industry’s production of GHG emissions is important for achieving national emission reduction targets. Based on the introduction of aluminum production process, the paper checks the key source of carbon emissions of bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminum production and aluminum ingot casting,which is the boundary of aluminum’s carbon emissions measurement model. Then the paper focuses on the measurement of carbon emissions of alumina refining and aluminum production. Firstly, the paper analyses the carbon emissions of aluminum production in 2012 based on the model, followed by the carbon emissions from 2001 to 2014 as the dynamic analysis. And further study the changes of the total or every unit aluminum’s carbon emissions trends. Secendly, the way of correlation analysis determines the important factors of our aluminum production carbon emissions,which play a reference for development of carbon emission reduction measures for China aluminum.Finally, using the modified GM (1,1) model predicts the carbon emissions of aluminum production in the future five years. The results showed that carbon emissions source of alumina production processes mainly include fuel combustion, limestone calcination, electricity and steam; and the three different production proceses--Bayer process, sintering process and hybrid method, which have different amount of resources consumed energy, result in the different carbon emissions. In the aluminum electrolysis and ingot casting process, the main source of emissions of carbon is anode production and consumption process, anode effect and power consumption, and the indirect emissions due to electricity consumption is the biggest among the three biggest cause.Trend analysis showed that China’s total carbon emissions from aluminum production increases year by year, which mainly depends on the rising demand for aluminum production, but due to technical development and innovation, unit of aluminum carbon emissions has the decreasing trend. Emissions associated with the production of aluminum carbon degree biggest factor is the power consumption, followed by limestone consumption. If we keep the law of development of the past carbon emissions of aluminum production in next five years, it is difficult to achieve the emission reduction target. The paper provides the reasonable suggestions for our aluminum production in energy saving space and key links.
