| Carbazoles are an important class of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds. They can be found in numerous natural products, drug molecules and organic functional materials. In recent years, carbazoles and its derivatives have gained extensive interest of scientists due to the observably biological activity, such as antibacterial, antiviral and antitumor activities. In addition, the carbazole core has also been widely used as building block in the field of materials science. Therefore, numerous efficient and flexible synthetic methods for the synthesis of carbazole derivatives have been developed in the past decades. In this paper, novel and efficient methods were developed for the formation of the carbazoles using indole derivatives as raw materials. The contents as follow:Chapter one: Literature review, briefly introduction about the methods for synthesis of carbazole derivatives in the past decades.Chapter two: Construction of benzo[a]carbazole derivatives via the Diels-Alder reaction. A highly efficient synthetic method for the synthesis of benzo[a]carbazole derivatives form vinylidoles and arynes(generated form 2-(trimethylsily)aryl triflate) has been developed.Chapter three: An efficient procedure for the synthesis ofbenzo[a,c]carbazole derivatives via palladium-catalyzed annulation of arynes with 2-orthohalophenylindoles has been developed. This methodology constructs two new C–C bonds via an arylation/annulation process, and provides the desired products in good yields.Chapter four: Construction of benzo[a,c]carbazole derivatives via palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling tandem reaction of aryl halide with2-orthohalophenylindoles. |
