Octylphenol ethoxylates, OPEO for short, which has a good surface wettability, dispersion, emulsification and solubilization effects, is a major alkylphenol ethoxylates(APEO)non-ionic surfactant, which widely used in industrial non-ionic surfactants, including the textile industry. However, APEO’s safety already caused widespread concern in the international community, mainly because that the APEO can be biodegradable in the environment and the degradation products has been eco-toxicity, environmental hormones effect and could accumulate in the body. As early as 1980 s, a succession of worldwide restrictions on the use of APEO even disabled. At present, APEO pollution’s studies maily focused on environmental science and other fields, and continued to expand to daily consumer goods including textiles. The research of APEO on textiles were more focused on the detection method, the adsorption characteristics of APEO on textiles are extremely rare.In this paper, the static adsorption test method was adopted, mainly studied the adsorption behavior OPEO in textiles, included adsorption isotherm, adsorption kinetics and adsorption thermodynamics; we also had explored the desorption behavior of OPEO on textiles and the influencing factors of adsorption and desorption. Meanwhile, accorded to the adsorption and desorption characteristics of OPEO and the influencing factors, we developed a more economical, environmentally friendly and efficient pretreatment of sample, to provide technical support for the accurately determination of APEO on textiles. The results showed that: the adsorption isotherm of OPEO on textiles could better meet the Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption model, adsorption experiments for five fabric, the ability to order the adsorption of OPEO was silk> cotton> linen> PET> Acrylic; Adsorption kinetics was studied using silk fabric showed that the adsorption process could be accurately described by quasi-second-order kinetic equation; adsorption thermodynamics showed that the adsorption of OPEO on textiles was an endothermic process. Further study of the desorption characteristics of OPEO on silk fabrics showed that the desorption rate in water was not more than 22%. Researched the influencing factors of adsorption we discovered that : the higher the temperature, the greater the amount of adsorption OPEO on fabric, there was a linear correlation between the extreme adsorption capacity and the temperature; the greater the degree of polymerization OPEO, the smaller the adsorption capacity on fabric, and there was also a linear correlation between the extreme adsorption capacity and the degree of polymerization of OPEO; when nonylphenol ether(NPEO) existed, the capacity of adsorption of OPEO was not significantly reduced, and at low concentrations, the adsorption capacity of NPEO was greater than OPEO, while high concentrations, the adsorption capacity less than OPEO, and the adsorption isotherms and kinetics of OPEO and NPEO both could be used Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption model and associate order dynamic equation to describe. The influencing factors of desorption experiment showed that a certain percentage of ethanol added to water could greatly increase the desorption rate of OPEO, the best ratio should be 70% ethanol-water, the desorption rate could reach 90%. The researched of the extraction method of APEO on textiles showed that: 25 °C, 70% alcohol- water could reach the maximum extraction rate of APEO on textiles.
