"Plant dye" as a traditional dyeing techniques in ancient China, it has nature,environmental protection and artistry that chemical dye is unable to perform.Currently, the problems of global environment are getting worse, environmental issues began to attract the attention of people, the design of sustainable development get the attention of people, research of dye plant has increased the diversity of sustainable design, this article combine plant dye and knitting, with the technology of dip dye, forming the gradient effect in the knitting clothing, to expand the new vision for knitting clothing design.firstly, this article systematically expound the views of plant dye, knitting clothing and the gradient effect, summarizing the three kinds of value of plant dye in the design of knitting clothing, which is cultural value, aesthetic value and application value; Second, this article respectively analyze the influence factors of gradient effect from the angle of plant dye and the knitting, according to the results for series experiments; lastly, this article make some gradient effect design in knitting clothing with divergent thinking. Series experiments of plant dye mainly prove that different influence factors will form different gradient effect.The methods of this experiment is that control other variables, change the influence factors, to observe the influence of the gradient effect degree. The experiment concluded that, the greatest influence to the gradient effect of dyeing method is mordanting process, the best yarn material is cashmere. On the basis of scientific experiment, combining of gradient effect and the texture gradient art design to make design,enriching the visual art effect in knitting.
