In this paper iron ore sintering and reduction process of laboratory in a sintering plant is researched, and a characteristic distributed detection and control system for reduction property of sinter has been proposed. The sintering furnace and reducing furnace have been used in iron ore sintering experiment. In the control system, date acquisition, temperature control and date analysis are design and realized. Through the control system the operation complexity is reduced and control precision of sintering temperature is improved, which can enhance the degree of automation in sintering process.Two control layers are constructed in the control system frame, i.e., industrial control computer is used as experiment management computer and SIEMENS S7-200 PLC is adopted as host controller. The main functions of experiment management include data display and analysis, and program of process control main include parameters acquisition, experiment operation sequential control and temperature control. And the communication program between management computer and PLC controller is developed and realized by VC++ tool.According to the characteristics of reduction furnace that consists of three heating sects, a control strategy is design and realized. The control strategy main includes two kinds of temperature control methods, namely, as operation condition of reduction furnace is unstable, fuzzy PID control is adopted, otherwise PID combined genetic algorithm for unstable furnace condition. Theoretical simulation analysis and practical application show that the system has predominant control performance. As temperature control of reduction furnace in industry application, some satisfactory control results could be obtained (testing experiment indicates the error of temperature control is within 5℃). In a word, this control system has reasonable system structure, superior performance. In iron ore sintering, it can reduce labor intensity, save experiment energy and has a high practical application value.
