Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are persistent organic pollutants and widely exist in environment, known for their teratogenic, carcinogenetic and mutagenic effects. Sixteen PAH compounds have been recommended as priorityp ollutants by the United States Environmental Protection Agency(USEPA).16 Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)of 17 sampling site in the Fuhe River and Changjiang River were analyzed the 16 PAHs contamination levels, distribution characters and further more the contaminants sources were preliminary analyzed. The primary results as follows:1. The total concentration ranges of PAHs in sediments, susponded particulate matter and sediments in the Fuhe River were 232.88~741.72ng·g-1,637.73~5807.63 ng·g-1 and 567.96~7335.31ng·g-1, respectively, the average levels of them were 491.53 ng·g-1,1737.81ng·g-1 and 3633.19 ng·g-1. For Changjiang River, the total concentration ranges were 200.40~673.50ng·g-1,1407.38~24555.67ng·g-1 and 1112.90~44311.31ng·g-1, the average levels of them were 429.82ng·g-1, 5261.49ng·g-1 and 12455.75ng·g-1. The concentrations of 16 PAHs in water environment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River were over foreign some river basin, and compared with domestic rivers in the medium level.2. Phe has the highest concentration, the ring sequence of PAHs in the different environment medium showed certain change rule in water environment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. Sediment PAHs concentrations substantially above the waters in the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. Correlation analysis showed that the HMW PAHs were significantly correlated, on the contrary, the correlation among the LMW PAHs were weak in water environment in the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. Correlation analysis for ∑PAHs and BaP in three phase showed that AHs and BaP were significantly correlated in suspended particulate matters and sediment.3. Regular physicochemical parameters and PAHs Correlation analysis showed that in water, suspended particulate matters and sediment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. There was a no correlation between pH、DO and ∑PAHs concentration in waters. No correlations were found in the suspended particulate matters AHs content and the suspended particulate matters concentrations. Between pH and ∑PAHs concentrations was no corresponding relation in the sediments. The PAHs concentrations in the sediments were not correlated to organic carbon content.4.1n the study, the ratio of ECWC/HHCWO were applied to evaluate about 8 PAHs in water Sample. The result show that BaP, DbA and InP had certain ecological risks for coast residents health and entironment. Apply for ERL and ERM determining AHs concentrations obviously exceeds standard about part of the sampling sites in suspended particulate matters and sediment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. The ecological environment of the surrounding have negative effect which need great attention.5.The isomeric ratios such as Bap/BghiP,BaA/(BaA+Chr),BaA/Chr,Flu/(Flu+Pyr), Flu/Pyr,An/(An+Phe) and Phe/An were used to identify possible sources of PAHs in water environment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. The results indicated that the major sources of PAHs in waters in the Fuhe River were contributed by coal combustion, and traffic source. The possible sources of PAHs in waters in the Changjiang River were transportation fuel high temperature combustion. A mixed PAHs input pattern, including oil pollution, traffic, burning source, burning gasoline, coal burning and wood combustion in suspended particulate matters in the Fuhe River. Mixed source of PAHs, including traffic, oil pollution, coal, forest and wood combustion in the Changjiang River. The possible sources of PAHs in sediments in the Fuhe River were petroleum pollution. The major sources of PAHs were the high temperature pyrolysis of fossil fuels in sediments in the Changjiang River. We used the factor analysis method to comprehensive analysis of the predominant sources of PAHs in suspended particulate matters and sediment of the Fuhe River and Changjiang River. The results and the diagnostic ratios method are basically the same.
