In the 2D braided composites, the fiber of the braided composites is entangled with each other, which shows a strong integrity, which makes the tensile strength, impact resistance, damage tolerance properties are better than those of the traditional laminated composite materials. At the same time, the production efficiency is improved because of weaving process automation and the scrap rate is reduced because of the composite process being simplified. For 2D braided composites, the complexity of the microstructure of the 2D braided composite material makes it difficult to predict the macro mechanical properties of the composites. Therefore, it is of certain significance to study the high performance fiber 2D braided composites by using the experimental study and finite element method.Firstly, the weaving of glass fiber yarns was researched. The test results showed that the tensile strength of glass fiber yarns was high, and the damage rate of yarns was low. Using the high speed automatic 120- dimensional knitting machine woven the 2D braided tubes with 10 kinds of different weaving parameters.Secondly, the 2D braided tubes were pressed into double layer fabrics.Composite materials were made of fabric and epoxy resin by using hand paste method. And the basic structure parameters of the samples were tested. The results showed that the fiber volume fraction of the samples were low. Tensile and bending properties of the test specimens were tested by universal testing machine, and the influence factors and failure mechanism of mechanical properties were analyzed. The results showed that the weaving angle and fiber volume content were the influence factors, and the weaving angle was the main factor. Finally, the single cell model of the 2D braided composites was established by using Pro/E software. The tensile properties of the samples were simulated by ABAQUS software. The results showed that the results of simulation analysis had a good agreement with the results of tensile test.
