| The existing researches on traditional costume concern more about its artistic value. But articles on functionalities in traditional costumes is very few. In this article, the author used mixed method to study the Baiku Yao costumes from both the human and ergonomic perspectives.Firstly, the article analyzes the development of Baiku Yao costumes through the literature and field study finds out the clothing shape and structure almost unchanged with the pass-ing of the years.To find out the reasons behind this phenomenon,the author interviewed 11 local people with semi-structured interview. On the basis, the article concluds 3 main reasons of this phenomenon : “functionality and fitnessâ€, “national beliefâ€, “national aest-hetic needsâ€.Secondly, the author collected 20 Baiku Yao adult females’ human body data(static and dynamic) through three dimension laser scanning. Through descriptive analysis and factor analysis of the data, the article extracts 6 principal components to describe the females’ body s-hape. By choosing control positions based on the result and using Morphing method constructs 1 meaningful Baiku Yao adult females ’human body data(static and dynamic).Finally, the article concluds the design rules of Baiku Yao’s daily clothing by analysising on the human body size and dress size.Through trying the costumes(medium size) virtual-ly on the Baiku Yao adult female(medium size) through Clo 3D and analyzing the 3D spatial relationship between them, interpretation the adaptability of the costumes to the human body movement. |
