CNC cylindrical grinder is the core of basic manufacturing capability. It’s mainly used for shaft parts of face, the cylindrical and conical surface precision grinding. The current domestic research and development of CNC cylindrical grinder in accuracy, speed and efficiency has made great progress, the main gap reflected in the reliability of CNC cylindrical grinder. We can simplify the CNC machine in series system, which consist of numerous essential functional components. To a great extent, the key functional component determines the reliability of CNC machine tools. So research and development of key functional unit reliability test system has a lot of help in improving the reliability of CNC machine tools.This paper supported by the national major projects of science and technology. Research on the CNC grinding carriage and spindle reliability test system and the reliability test method. Under the joint efforts of enterprise, users and universities, taking MKS1632’s grinding carriage and spindle system as the research object, in the laboratory successfully build the CNC grinding carriage and spindle reliability test system and the reliability test method. It’s has a significant meaning in improving the reliability of the grinding carriage and spindle system.In this paper, the main framework is as follows:Firstly, in order to make the CNC grinding carriage and spindle reliability test system designing more reasonably. Targeted for the higher failure rate parts add sensor and develop test methods. Through the early failure dada analysis and processing, build up FMEA of the CNC grinding carriage and spindle system analysis, it clearly shows the failure positions, failure modes, failure causes and failure affect of the CNC grinding carriage and spindle system.Secondly, on the basis of force analysis, designed the CNC grinding carriage and spindle reliability test system. Axial-radial force loading system used piezoelectric ceramic, torque loading system used magnetic powder brake. Software simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of loading system.Thirdly, set up a test-bed control system based on VB. Its function is to integrate loading system, data display system and record&query of fault data system.Finally, according to the typical craft data collected in the CNC grinding machine users’ factory, build up load spectrum model after the analyzing and processing of the data. This provides a theoretical basis for laboratory reliability loading system, shows that it is practicable. With reference to relevant national or industry standards, developed a laboratory reliability test method about the CNC grinding carriage and spindle system, as well as the concrete requirements for test method and data processing are given.
