The application of amino acids in daily life has drawn much public attention. They can be classified into two categories:essential amino acids and nonessential amino acids. This thesis depicted discovery, application and synthesis of a nonessential amino acid which is called (S)-trans-2-Amino-4-(2-aminoethoxy)-3-butenoic acid (simplified as AVG), and its structure is shown as bellow:As a natural product, AVG could only be obtained by extracting from the metabolic products of microorganism at present. Due to complex operations, advanced techniques and low yield, AVG used in China is imported from abroad, making it far more expensive. In scientific research, it has drawn more and more attention because it is related to vital function of plants. There have been a variety of successful research papers on AVG, which is sprayed on fruit, rice and wheat. According to the increasing demand and shortage of supplies, it is highly desirable to explore an efficient and rapid way to synthesize this compound.Inspired by previous reports, this thesis designed three different ways to synthesize AVG In addition, an improved plan has been designed based on previous results. After exploring, we obtained key intermediate and synthesized the target molecule successfully. So, a completely new method to get AVG from L-methionine has been developed. At present, this synthetic route is the shortest way to get AVG, and the yield increased slightly. The feature of this thesis is use of cheap and easily accessible starting materials, short steps, and simple methods to synthesize the valuable AVG.
