At present the study of river water quality mainly concentrated in the larger rivers, lakes and rivers, water pollution, and less study of rural small rivers. This paper selected 11 typical in jiangxi province rural small rivers, rivers involving areas hath river basin, jiujiang, ganzhou in the taihu lake and poyang lake area in the south. According to the water and wastewater monitoring standards of detection index and test method we identified nine measures of water quality, and according to the scale of river and sampling method to determine the sampling section of each small rivers and sampling points, and then carries on the sampling and experiment data we need.Analysis data to determine the rural small river water quality, then to explain the reason of the change of the water quality. Finally combining with the characteristics of rural small rivers in jiangxi province and the reasons of the change of the water quality, small rivers of contaminated reasonable management Suggestions and opinions. The results show that the selected 11 small rivers, from the single index analysis, the water quality situation is not optimistic, especially high content of total nitrogen, total phosphorus, But from the comprehensive index of water quality analysis, the water quality in good condition: there are four small river water level reached Ⅱclass water, accounting for 36.4% of all rivers, there are six small rivers water quality level to Ⅲclass water, accounting for 54.5% of the selected river, a river water quality level for Ⅳ class water, accounting for 9.1% of all rivers.
