In this paper, the synthesis processes, reaction kinetics and phase equilibrium of N-tert-butylacrylamide were studied.N-tert-butylacrylamide was synthesized with tert-butyl alcohol and acrylonitrile in the presence of pentoxide, Research shows that the highest yield of N-tert-butylacrylamide can top 85.67%. The optimal conditions were as follow:reaction temperature=90℃, reaction time=4h, the catalyst is 2.2g, the molar ratio of tert-butyl alcohol and acrylonitrile is 1.1:1.In addition, the kinetics of synthesis was investigated by experiments in different temperature, kinetic data was obtained. The order of reaction can be estimated by fitting these data and the kinetics equation was also established:Futhermore, the solubility data of N-tert-butylacrylamide in seven solvents were measured and thermodynamic models was established. The measured solubility data were correlated by van’t Hoff, modified Apelblat equation, NRTL model and UNIQUAC model. The result show that the modified Apelblat equation show the best agreement with both of the overall average relative deviation less than 3%.According to the van’t Hoff equation, the standard enthalpy and entropy of solution in seven solvent can be derived. What’ more, according to the NRTL model,excess function of solution also can be derived.
