Propylene is one of the most inportant organic chemical raw materials. It is the second raw materials in petrochemical industry after ethylene, which can be used to produce a serious of derived products such as polypropylene, acrylonitrile, epoxy propane, butyl alcohol etc. In the past 10 years, propylene derivatives products is badly needed and the global demand growth of propylene is higher than that of ethylene. This broke the tradition frame for olefin supply and demand. So it can be rational predictted that the shortage of propylene resources will come out in the global scope. In this case, increasing propylene accords with the need of domestic and foreign oil chemical raw materials market and the enterprises.Based on the shortage of propylene resources and structure adjustment of Yanchang Petroleum in Shannxi Province, China, this paper analyze the routing of increaseing propylene production. In Yanchang Petroleum production line with 16 million t/a oil refining capacity, it is usually by-product large quantity C4C5. The propylene production technologies and solutions is proposed to fit current sizes in this production line. The results shows that the process route can increase the propylene. Furthermore, the output and composition of light oil can fully satisfy the requirements of KBR. So this technology can be fully extended the comprehensive utilization of C4C5 light oil. It can change the low value fuel into high value chemical products, which conforms the present world energy development trend and the state industrial policies. All of them have important strategic significance for extending the integration of oil refinery-chemical and improving the formation and development of internal chain, as well as obvious economic and social benefits.
