Vegetation-Activate Sludge Process(V-ASP) is an environment-friendly ecological hybrid system for decentralized wastewater treatment. Contrary to conventional activated sludge process, V-ASP has its own merits, including a good landscaping capability, a stably high removal effectiveness and a minimal impact to ambient environments. Moreover, its easy-manipulation and high cost-effectiveness make V-ASP suitable for decentralized wastewater treatment. In the present work, treatment efficient and sludge properties of V-SBR process were investigated, and more attention was paid to sludge characteristics, including sludge dewaterability, settleability, sludge concentration, particle size distribution, EPS, SMP, and their transformation profiles were examined and analyzed. The composite system has good pollutant removal efficiency. Vegetation- SBR and Vegetation- contact oxidation composite system long running results show that under the same water volume load, the Vegetation- SBR compound system of COD, ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus removal efficiency than the traditional SBR system is increased by 2.8%, 3.2% and 3.2%, respectively. Plant- contact oxidation composite system on pollutants removal efficiency is also better than the single contact oxidation system.Plant roots can adsorb activated sludge, which lead sludge concentration of compound system first after falling and rising trend, and eventually stabilized at about 4000 mg/L. In composite system, because the plant coupling change the hydraulic condition in the reactor, the improvement of parts of hydraulic shearing action makes sludge particle size distribution of centralization, sludge particle size d50 increase by 79.4 microns to 104.7 microns. Due to the plant coupled with long-term effect, make the sludge Extracellular Polymers(EPS) and the content of Soluble Microbial Products(SMP) are showing a upward trend after fall first, stable and eventually to a lower level. EPS and SMP main material, the change of the polysaccharide and protein has a bigger difference. The contents of polysaccharide in compound in EPS system components has been maintained at 1 mg/L, indicate that polysaccharide hydrophilic organic matter such as microbial preferential adsorption degradation can be plant roots and the subsequent depth of sewage treatment and reuse.Investigate the change rule of plant transpiration and the relationship between transpiration and treatment efficiency. The results showed that the plant transpiration by light intensity, temperature and leaf influence factors such as temperature, humidity and stomatal conductance, and affect the pollutants such as nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency. Plant transpiration and the pollutants removal efficiency also has significant positive correlation. Through high-throughput sequencing analysis method, analyzes the roots of microorganisms and activated sludge microbial components flora distribution and variation of the function of microorganisms. The results show that the coupling of plant after hydrophilic in activated sludge system and to form different clusters suspended activated sludge. Microbes in system formed in the roots, and closely with biofilm formation of bacteria in root and dynamic biofilm microbial structure, and is helpful to form covers the epigenetic biological complex microbial system.Through the analysis of the process of landscape ecological- activated sludge system features, regularity of plant physiology and activated sludge characteristics, as well as the interaction relationship between and among, formed a composite evaluation system stable operation and health evaluation index system. The results obtained is very important to understand V-SBR process and to give direct technical evidences for its practical application.
