Ti C are widely used inrefractory materials and cutter materials for its high strength, wearing resistance refractory materials and cutter materials for its high strength, wearing resistance.About 50% of the Ti component in the ore was separated from iron and concentrated into the molten slag in blast furnace process. The slag contains 22–25% Ti O2 so it is a high titanium slag. Until now, more than sixty million tons high titanium slag was cumulated near Jinsha river, and three million and five hundred to four million thousand tons was produced every year.It is a great waste of the Ti resourse.Secondary pollution,the use of residue is also the problem.Carbothermal reduction in vacuum and acid leaching was used in this study for the use of separate the magnesium and silica from the slag.The main conclusions are included:.① Five main composition of oxide in the slag is(Ca O-Si O2-Mg O-Al2O3-Ti O2): a generation of intermediate products was produced in the creduction of Ti O2 to Ti C.under normal pressure at a temperature below 1000 centigrade Ti3O5, Ti2O3, Ti O were generates intermediate products. With the increase of temperature and decrease of pressure,Ti C was producted more easily then others. Atmospheric and vacuum, Ca O and Al2O3 are difficult to restore, high reaction temperature; atmospheric pressure, Si O2 and Mg O reduction is difficult, but with the increase of the vacuum degree, can be realized Si O2 to Si O, Mg O to the reduction of Mg.② The composition of the slag are four main compounds(Ca Ti O3, Ca Fe(Si O3) 2, Ca Mg(Si O3) 2 and Mg Al2O4): the reduction of the degree of difficulty of Ca Ti O3< Ca Fe(Si O3) 2< Ca Mg(Si O3) 2< Mg Al2O4. Under the pressure of 103 Pa, the initial reaction temperature is 1200 centigrade, the reduction of Ca Ti O3 Ti C can be obtained. When the pressure reaches 100 Pa, the initial reaction temperature lower than 900 centigrade. Ca Fe(Si O3) 2 is the reduction of C to generate Ca O, Fe and Si O, under the pressure of 103 Pa,reduction temperature lower than 1300 Centigrade.Ca Mg(Si O3) 2 also decreased with the pressure was gradually reduced from Ca O carbothermic reduction of Mg, Si O. Reduction generated by C Mg and Mg Al2O4 Al are relatively difficult.③ The Ti bearing blast furnace slag reduction product predominance area diagram shows that: by adjusting the system of oxygen partial pressure and temperature. The purity of Ti C region, and Ti C decreases with increasing temperature and pressure, stable interval continuous change. Si C and Ti C stability of interval with temperature increasing, and decreases with the decrease of pressure.④ Under the condition of atmospheric pressure, protective atmosphere, reducing the difficulty of Ti bearing blast furnace slag. The slag with high energy ball milling and vacuum carbothermic reduction of Ti C products, can be obtained, but the energy consumption is high.⑤ A certain size of titanium bearing blast furnace slag in the appropriate degree of vacuum, the reduction temperature and slag carbon mass ratio condition, the reduction of vacuum carbon thermal reduction, after further acid leaching treatment, can get pure Ti C.
