The rapid development of science and technology has promoted economic development and improved people’s standard of living. At the same time, a lot of fossil energy coal is consumed, wich produces a large amounts of waste gas discharged into the atmosphere, and has resulted in an increase in content of heavy metal mercury. Mercury is one of the most concerned heavy metal pollutants, which is of bioaccumulation and toxicity.Mercury emissions from coal-fired is one of the important pollution source of global atmospheric mercury, and the coal consumption is the most concentrated on coal-fired power plants. Therefore, coal-fired power plant is regarded as the biggest single source of mercury among various fields. Through the measurement of the gaseous mercury from coal fired flue, the contribution of the existing environmental protection facilities to mercury capture was evaluated. This paper selected several pulverized coal boilers at Shanghai Shenergy spark thermal-electric limited company as the cases. The mercury content in the flue gas dust remover of import and export and the outlet of the desulfurizing tower were sampled by the method of 30 B, and then measured by RA915 Lumex mercury analyzer for flue gas mercury metal. The analysis of mercury removal capacity on the existing coal-fired power plant collector and desulfurization tower were performed, and the balance during the sampling period among the different stages were evaluated. The result can provide a basis and reference for other coal fired power plant flue gas emissions to control mercury emission.
