With the rapid development of economy, the problem of global energy crisis and environmental pollution has been becoming more and more serious. Biogas as non-polluting and renewable energy can effectively relieve the energy and environmental crisis. In recent years, under the national policy vigorously promoting, the biogas engineering industry in China has been large-scale developing. But the safety problems have not been given enough attention, leadng to a lot of accident hazards.Through literature and field research, the developing situation and existing problems of domestic biogas engineering industry have been studied. Based on the study on the craft and technology of biogas engineering, dangerous and harmful factors and their distribution have been analyzed. The fire&explosion fault tree of biogas fermentation workshop and outdoor storage was built, with qualitative and quantitative analysis. The key factors which cause accidents have been found, and the probability of the top event has been calculated. The Dow fire&explosion index method was used to evaluate the fire&explosion risk of the main device area and storage area of biogas engineering. The dangerous process coefficient and safety compensating coefficient were determined, and the final F&EI was calculated. Leaking biogas may cause flash fire, gas cloud explosion, and steady combustion, and may further cause explosion of the biogas storage, which have been quantitatively analysised. The safe radius and death radius has been obtained by calculation, given the range of different damage degrees to the human body. The safety technology of biogas engineering has been summarized from eight aspects, such as the general layout, the fire zone, the fire separation, the production technology, the equipment safety, the safety protection, fire controlling facilities, safety colors and signs.At last, the hidden dangers of biogas engineering have been analyzed, and the corresponding measures have been put forward.The research of this paper can provide reference for the enterprise to develop safety technical regulations, designing specifications, and safety management system of biogas engineering.
