Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is obtained by high density polyethylene (HDPE) reaction with chlorine to obtain the modified polymer, and thus CPE HDPE resin having the same main chain structure. CPE’s performance is strongly influenced by HDPE resin.HDPE6800CP mainly used to produce CPE, chlorine content of about 35%, used to improve the impact performance of PVC.The article first introduces the HDPE properties used for CPE, includeing density, MFR, branched-chain, molecular size and distribution, particle size and distribution, proposed 6800CP technical indicators.Under the same production process, the catalyst effects polymer particle size and surface morphology, so choose the catalyst according to the polymer particle size and surface morphology. In 2013 began manufacture HDPE 6800CP.Structural performance analyzed by density, MFR, branched-chain, molecular size and distribution, particle size and distribution, surface morphology and melting behavior analysis, CPE chlorination process begin through the surface then into the interior of HDPE polyethylene particles, so that the surface morphology of HDPE have a significant impact on the process of chlorination. Meanwhile, in the actual process of chlorination, HDPE resin is gradually heated, the chlorination reaction is carried out gradually, in order to understand the process of chlorination of molten, using a polarizing microscope with a melting machine to observe HDPE melting process.The results show that:①6800CP technical indicators is rational, meet product specification requirements. ②6800CP molecular weight distribution is narrow, branched chain structure reasonable, particle size is moderate, evenly distributed, melting enthalpy is small, easy to melt.Application results show that:the reaction process is steady, the reaction pressure, reaction time, energy and material consumption is roughly equal to imported products.
