Under the existing conditions of laboratory, this paper established the suitable analysis method for determining the photochemical reaction matters which fitted for iron in water. The effect of contributory factors of photochemical reaction in pure water be explored, such as pH and the concentrations of organic acid. The photochemical reaction process and parametric changed of iron in the effect of carboxylic ac id had been studied, the incidental process of iron circulation be surveyed. And we researched the different light reaction characteristics of iron. Then we gauged the concentration of reactants and analysised the photolysis process of iron in the process of reaction. The results of experiments showed that pH had a great influence on the conversion rate of iron and the degradation rate of dimethyl phthalate(DMP). In the acidic conditions, with pH decreasing, the conversion rate of the iron and DMP increased.Another factor was the ratio of Fe(III) and carboxylic acids. As the acid dosage increased, the conversion of iron and the degradation rates of DMP increased accordingly. The reason was as follows: on one hand, the different ratios of iron and carboxylic acid could affect the relative content of different morphological iron and carboxylic acid complexes. And different forms of photochemical activit ies of Fe(III)-carboxylic acid complexes also had certain differences. On the other hand, it was the reason of increasing absolute magnitude of the light active substances. So the differences of iron and carboxylic acid concentration ratio had a great influence on the conversion of iron.In addition, we also studied the effect of DMP on the conversion rate of iron.In the presence of DMP conditions, the conversion of iron c ould be promoted, and then it significantly improved the conversion rate of iron in water. The reason might be due to Fe(III)-carboxylic acid complexes catalyzed the degradation of DMP. Then it produced more organic carboxylic acid, representing an increas ing trend of the content of the carboxylic acid, thereby improving the conversion rate of the iron. Some ions in water have considerable inf luence on the conversion rate of iron. This paper applied three types of inorganic anions(SO42-、NO3-、Cl-), which widely were found in water, to study the effect of iron on the conversion rate of iron and the degradation rate of DMP. The results of experiments showed that SO42-and NO3- has inhibitory effect on the system of iron conversion rate and the inhibition ability of NO3- > SO42-. And Cl- had no significant effect on the conversion of iron.
