Conducting polymers have superior optical, electrical, and redox properties. They offer a wide range of potential applications in the fields of metal corrosion, electromagnetic shielding, energy and information devices. However, conducting polymer is difficult to process due to insolubility and infusibility. One way of solving this problem is to prepare conducting polymers and their composites with the macroscopic state, such as thin films, sol, and gel, which could be used directly in some fields. In this thesis the following three aspects are studied,(1) Polypyrrole(PPy)/chitosan hydro-sponges were successfully prepared using methyl orange(MO) as the template, ammonium persulfate(APS) as the oxidant and glutaraldehyde as the crosslinking agent. PPy/phytic acid(PA) hydro-sponges were also successfully prepared using MO as the template and APS as the oxidant. The structures and properties of the composites were characterized.(2) Graphene oxide(GO) was prepared by improved Hummers method. Then aniline monomer was dispersed in the aqueous solution of GO. Polyaniline/GO composite gels were prepared using APS as the oxidant and phytic acid as the dopant. The structures and properties of the composites were characterized.(3) Polypyrrole gels were successfully prepared using two surfactants(sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium dodecyl sulfonate) as the dopant and template, APS, Fe Cl3, Fe2(SO4)3, Fe(NO3)3 as the oxidant. The structures and properties of the polypyrrole gels were characterized.
