With the rapid development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standard, people’s consciousness of environmental protection strengthens day by day. Breeding and spreading of the microorganisms in the environment not only cause various diseases, but also cause serious threat to the environment. Therefore, development of cheap, long-term, non-toxic, antibacterial broad spectrum antimicrobial materials is particularly important.Coating is an important building material, its high-performance, multi-functional, which has significant meaning for the preparation of special function of material. Development of antibacterial coating not only can inhibit or kill microorganisms(bacteria, fungi), to prevent indoor bacteria survival and growth of mold, but also can beautify and indoor decoration. The preparation of antibacterial coating composition mainly binder and pigment and stuffing, including binder is the main film-forming material, the main factor that determines the nature of the coating. At present, antibacterial coating film former research mainly is the synthetic polymer antibacterial agent. Because of synthetic polymer antibacterial agent is not only a long-term broad-spectrum, safe non-toxic, good stability and speed of antibacterial properties, but also has the effects of smooth. With this as binder and has antibacterial ability, wide antibacterial, good thermal stability of inorganic titanium dioxide as fillers such as preparation of antibacterial coating, not only has antibacterial properties of the synthetic polymer, but also has the characteristics of the inorganic antibacterial agent, at the same time, the addition of titanium dioxide can makes the coating toughness, wear resistance increase. The polymer composite antimicrobial coating research to a great extent improve the antibacterial properties of the coating, and prolong the antibacterial coating, the study of antibacterial coating has a great significance.Based on the research study on the basis of functional polymer film material, according to the preparation of mature technology, to synthesis has antibacterial properties of inorganic and organic antibacterial coating.Firstly, the current the preparation and application of polymer materials were summarized. Mainly from two aspects: on the one hand, expounds the developing situation of all kinds of antibacterial agent, on the other hand, presents applications of polymeric antimicrobials.Secondly, cationic polyacrylate copolymer(PAM) was prepared with γ-(methacrylic acid) propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(MPAC) as functional monomer, methyl methacrylate(MMA), butyl acrylate(BA), methyl beta hydroxypropyl acrylate( β-HPMA) as polymerization of monomers, potassium persulfate as initiator, by soap-free emulsion polymerization. The thermostability, structure and particle morphology were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), thermal gravimetric analysis(TG), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Besides the basic properties and antibacterial properties of the PAM emulsion were measured, the results show that PAM emulsion has good antibacterial properties.Thirdly, cationic polyurea acrylate copolymer(PUAM) and cationic organic silicone acrylate copolymer(PAMM) were synthesized with terminated polyurea prepolymer(PU-A) and silane coupling agent(MPTS) as the crosslinking agent, with the MPAC、MMA、 BA、β-HPMA by soap-free emulsion polymerization.The structures were characterized by FT-IR polymer structure; TG examines the thermal stability of the polymer; the polymer structure and morphology are investigated by SEM and TEM. At the same time, test the basic performance of the emulsion and antibacterial properties,, the results show that PUAM and PAMM copolymer has good antibacterial properties.All in all, cationic acrylate copolymer emulsion and its coatings can achieve architectural coatings with the emulsion and the national standard of interior wall coating, the coating has good antibacterial properties, and the coating has the characteristics of environmental protection, the cleaning, can be used for building interior wall coatings.
