This thesis is mainly based on the processes involved for the WSA be installed at Anshan Steel, Anshan. The WSA plant shall treat H2 S feed gas. The acid gas is burnt in the combustor to generate an SO2-rich process gas. Cold combustion air is supplied to ensure an air surplus in the combustor, as well as for dilution of the process gas in order to control the process gas temperature. The hot process gas exits the combustor and is cooled in the waste heat boiler.The process feed gases contain hydrogen cyanide(HCN), which leads to the formation of nitrogen oxides(NOx) during combustion. The nitrogen oxides are catalytically reduced to nitrogen in the SCR reactor in the presence of ammonia.The SO2-rich process gas is converted to SO3 in the SO2 converter, via three adiabatic catalytic beds. The total conversion of SO2 into SO3 in the reactor is approximately 99.3%.From the SO2 converter,the process gas enters the WSA condenser.The process gas is cooled,The remaining part of the SO3 hydration reaction is completed. The sulphuric acid is condensed.The WSA condenser is a falling-film, shell and tube type condenser with tubes made of glass. The process gas containing acid vapour flows upwards inside the glass tubes and the condensed sulphuric acid flows downwards along the inside walls of the glass tubes. The condensed acid is collected in the brick lined bottom of the condenser. The sulphuric acid product is pumped from the acid vessel via the acid pumps, and cooled in the acid cooler. The bulk of the cooled acid is circulated for cooling purposes, with the acid product pumped via the acid product pump. The acid product is delivered to the battery limit.During the WSA plant running there were some problems. For instance, low pressure boiler water, air blower regulation failure, filter clogging frequently, temperature and pressure reducing device failure, the combustor failed to ignite and so on. But through constant efforts, of course, difficult was necessary, we were pinpointed the problem. Through science and technology to tackle key problem deep, we got remarkable finally.
