Nanotechnology is considered to be the most influential of all high-tech generation and one of the important subjects of three key technologies(Biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology) by the countries of the world on the 21 st Century. Nanomaterial, as the basis of nanotechnology, is the most dynamic element in the research and is very promising for practical application. It is not only the most influential part for the future social and economic development, but also an important material foundation for interdisciplinary fusion of physics, chemistry, information technology, biotechnology, medicine and other fields and their further development. The research area and connotation of nanomaterial has been continuously expanded. Multifunctional nanocomposites with low-dimensional and intelligent features have received considerable attention in recent years, and become one of the frontier research topics of functional materials. Because of the special nature of the quantum size effect, dielectric confinement effect, quantum tunneling effect and so on, semiconductor nano-materials has been widely used in a variety of functional devices. Aiming at this important research direction, we start from the design and synthesis of functional materials and semiconductor nanocomposites. Surrounding the multifunctional nanocomposites, this dissertation presents a systematic research about their synthesis and characterization as well optical performance.PbSe, CdS, Au@CdS nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ synthesis and solvothermal reaction method, and characterizated by AFM, SEM, XRD, TEM and UV-VIS. The paper focused on anti-wrinkle effect in the holographic recording and the third order nonlinear optical properties of the nanocomposite materials. The major achievements obtained were shown as follow:1. PbSe nanoparticles, 6.5nm, 10 nm and 15 nm, were synthesized in polyvinyl alcohol by in-situ synthesis method, respectively. Three sizes of PbSe nanoparticles with different concentration were incorporated in photopolymer, and inorganic-organic hybrid photopolymer films were prepared. The results of the experiments show that the incorporation of PbSe nanoparticles leads to an improvement of the holographic performance.2. PbSe nanocomposites were synthesized by wet chemical method, and the third-order nonlinear optical properties were tested using Z-scanning method. The three order nonlinear refractive index n2 and the three order nonlinear polarizability is calculated of the material.3. CdS nanoparticles and Au@CdS core shell nanoparticles with three shell thickness were synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterizated by SEM, TEM, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer and XRD.4. The CdS nanoparticles and Au@Cd S core shell nanoparticles with different concentration were incorporated in photopolymer, and inorganic-organic hybrid photopolymer films were prepared. The results of the experiments show that the incorporation of CdS nanoparticles leads to an improvement of the holographic performance, but Au@CdS core shell nanoparticles are not.5. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of Au@CdS core shell nanocomposites were tested using Z-scanning method. The three order nonlinear refractive index n2 was calculated.
