The development of economy and society depends on the water resources, as one of Seven Major River of China, Songhua River is the main water source of industry,agriculture and domesticity to coastal cities. Harbin is located in the middle and upper reaches of the Songhua River, and plays an important role in the health of ecosystem as well as the economic development of downstream Sanjiang Plain or the entire Heilongjiang. Analyzing and assessing water environmental quality of Songhua River of Harbin scientifically is its basis for effective planning and management, and that is very important to ensure the sustainable development of society.This article was based on Delft3 D model from Netherlands, built and validated an two-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model for the main stream of Songhua River in Harbin by making use of the DEM images in 2013 and combined with the hydrology, water quality measured data in 2014. The model simulated hydrodynamic and water quality condition of this river in dry season and rain season two different periods, analysis the characteristics of the simulation results, and design reasonable prediction scheme for the model forecasts based on them. The results showed that on the whole, the hydrodynamic and water quality condition of the main stream of Songhua River in Harbin had an obvious change with season.The Simulation results of Delft3 D model perfectly reflected the time-space distribution characteristics of water level, water depth, flow field and water quality of the river studied, and this model can be used as an effective tool for simulating and studying hydrodynamic and water quality conditions of this river. Hydrodynamic model can be used to forecast the characteristics of water level, water depth, and provide scientific basis for planning management in water resource distribution, flood prevention, etc. Through the building of the water quality model, we can reasonably forecast and simulate the spatial and temporal change and distribution rule of the pollutants in water, and get the simulation of pollutants, to provide a scientific basis for water pollution prevention in future. In short, the hydrodynamic and water quality model of the main stream of Songhua River in Harbin which was built, can providestrong support for water resources protection and management of this river in future.
