With the rapid development of aluminum industry, byproduct waste red mud in the process of alumina has been environmental contaminants that should not be ignored due to its extreme alkalinity. Low cost of treatment and resource utilization of red mud consider to become the heat issues that scholars of domestic, international experts care stage by stage. And the problem of nitrogen oxides pollution is increasingly serious in recent years, which has become the focus of pollution reduction work of the "Twelve Five Year" in our country. Based on the predecessors’ work and the ideal of waste control by waste, the present paper has manufactured monolithic denitration catalyst to remove the nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas of factory boiler using red mud as the main raw materials by extrusion molding process and coating process, providing a practical and effective way for our environmental protection work in China.The present paper can prepare red mud paste by adding various additives, using original red mud as main materials, and investigate the influence of water powder ratio, pore forming agent, lubricant, bonding agent on extrusion molding technology. After testing, the bending strength, porosity, water absorption of red mud honeycomb ceramics exceeds 14.5MPa, 62.8%, 21.4%, mainly meeting the standard of honeycomb ceramic GB/T 25994-2010.Carrier liquid coating performance can directly affect the service life of the denitration catalyst. The present paper has confirmed the raw materials of Ti O2 coating liquid, and investigate of influence of urea, methylcellulose and substrate pretreatment of acid on coating property.Monolithic denitration catalyst used red mud honeycomb ceramics as skeleton, coated with carrier of high specific surface area and active component. The present paper confirmed the support to Ti O2, the active component to V2O5. When the load of the TiO2, V2O5 reach to 20%, 1%, the activity of catalyst reach to 96% under the temperature of 325℃.
