The rapid development of human civilization has played an essential role in making improvements in the field of science and technology. In the process of evolution, human beings have never ceased to explore this planet, and the products of petroleum exploration industry are exactly the results of such desire to explore Earth. The constant development of petroleum exploration industry not only facilitates the usage of underground space, it also increases the number of drilling wells in the ground. There are already a significant number of drilling wells of different sizes and scales, and the explorations of these wells provide a magnificent amount of information data to the related industries. However, how to extract useful information from those data, and utilize such information to effectively analyze the underground environment became a major issue to the related fields.This article focuses on some of the defects in the drilling technology information management of the petroleum industry, targeting on difficulties in data recording, data checking, and data analyzing. The article also covers issues with logging data files in terms of system and user experience inflexibility, and poor visual sense of the user interface. Furthermore, this paper will propose a design scheme for the drilling information displaying platform based on the WPF technology. Directing at the previously stated issues, this article has put forward a design scheme based on the drilling information displaying platform of the WPF technology. The characteristics of this scheme are as follow:(1) This scheme has successfully allowed for the combination of the new generation graphic displaying technology and the display of drilling information. This has not only resolved the user experience issues in petroleum exploration software, it has also brought about an innovative achievement in the software’s graphic display technology.(2) The scheme has combines the information displaying platform with user’s information management. This strictly supervised all users’ information, which enhanced the platform data security, allowing a safe data sharing environment within the LAN network.(3) The drilling information displaying platform of this scheme adopted the Ribbon model. This made the operation of such software in similar styles with other office software, meaning an improvisation in the operational difficulties upon the traditional information displaying platform. The new design strived to reduce users’ operational actions, allowing the users to easily access all related functions.The research contents of this article are as follow:(1) Studying of the current information display system. The paper has concluded, compared, and analyzed its positive and negative points, as well as its application scenarios.(2) Studying of the current information display system. The paper also concluded its application scenarios and united the characteristics of both drilling information and platform applications.(3) Studying of the WPF graphic display technology. The research combined the WPF technology with the drilling information display to improve some of the shortcomings of the current graphic displays.(4) Studying of the design model of software development. The research involved decision making on the most suitable design model for the WPF graphic display technology in order to achieve low coupling, high transferability, as well as high reusability and high maintainability.This article mainly applied literature research method to approach all the studies mentioned above. A substantial amount of related literature data was consulted in order to obtain a thorough understanding both the history and current level of the WPF technology and drilling information displaying platform, as well as their advantages and shortcomings. The most maturely developed WPF graphic display technology is chosen as the drilling information displaying platform’s graphic display technology after making comparisons with other related technology and design models; especially when coordinated with the MVVM design model. This technology resolves the problems related to graphic display of drilling information.The research has mainly obtained the following results:(1) This paper has referred to the object-oriented software design technology-UML and has gradually completed the entire software development process based on that. It focused and explicitly analyzed the requirements of platform’s overall functions in terms of drilling information displaying platform, and pinpointed five fundamental functional requirements of the displaying platform:user management function, user sign in and exit function, drilling information data processing function, drilling information display function, and interactive operation function of the drilling information display.(2) On the basis of display platform functional requirements, a detailed design has been derived targeting at each and every functional module; and directly displayed all the sub-functions of each module using functional block diagram, as well as presenting a clear view of the internal process of each module using the flow chart.(3) According to the division of functions, the article explicitly introduced some of the main corresponding implementation class of the related functions, and explained in details the main properties and methods of all classes.(4) In the light of display platform functions and storage, this article has also derived a more comprehensive design targeting the module of storage structure. The design employed Oracle as its storage database, and presented an explicit scheme to the main storage structures of every function modules.(5) The drilling information displaying platform based on WPF that this paper designed has successfully reached its expected results after the functional and performance test. The platform is not only able to run smoothly; it also has a pleasing graphical interface and strong maneuverability. Furthermore, it has obtained recognition by users of related fields and industries in practice.
