As the most abundant renewable resources in nature, cotton fiber is used in chemical industry, national defense, pharmaceutical industry, environmental protection, oil and other fields. It is an important and indispensable raw material in the construction of national defense and national economy. CMCS(Carboxymethyl chitosan, CMCS) is a product of carboxymethylated chitosan, and it is a kind of amphoteric polyelectrolytes. It has excellent antibacterial properties, dispersion, emulsification, moisture resistance, film form property, and non-toxic, odorless, good biocompatibility and biodegradability. These rich and unique functional properties of CMCS make it has good prospects in daily chemicals, agriculture, textiles, food, medicine, environment and other areas.Considering the use of green cotton staple and characteristics of CMC, this paper focused on the research of the dispersion of short cotton fiber in the aqueous solution using CMCS as crosslinking agent and the corresponding mechanisms, so that the reference and the guidance will be provided for the preparation of uniform and stable dispersion by it. Meanwhile, a possible channel will be discussed for cotton fiber recycling. In this paper, based on the testing and analysis of the cotton fiber and the performance testing and analysis of the CMCS aqueous solution, and the research on characterization and mechanism of cotton fiber in CMCS aqueous solution, as well as the research on dispersion stability of the short cotton fiber in an aqueous solution of CMCS, then to discuss the effect on the length, temperature and humidity, and fiber dyeing to cotton fiber cohesion, and discuss the effect on the concentration of CMCS, solution temperature etc to the viscosity and surface tension of the CMCS aqueous solution, as well as to discuss the effect on the concentration of CMCS, the concentration of the cotton fiber, the main length of short cotton fibers and the temperature of solution etc to the dispersibility of the dispersion. Through the experiment, the best dispersion parameters of the solution to be obtained: The concentration of Carboxymethyl chitosan is 20 g/L, the concentration of short cotton fiber is 20g/L and the subject length of cotton linters is 10 mm. According to the experimental data, the theoretical model of the short cotton fiber dispersed in the CMCS aqueous solution to be established, more important there is some valuable reference and guidance can be provided to prepare a uniform and stable spinning solution for subsequent process.
