In this paper, isoprene rubber was modified by epoxidation, including epoxidized modification of the chain end of polyisoprene and epoxidized modification of double bond in the molecular chains of isoprene rubber.1. Studies on synthesis and application of diepoxy-terminated polyisoprene oligomersThis study used the self-made sodium naphthalene anion catalyst to initiate sodium naphthalene/cyclohexane/isoprene system to synthetic polyisoprene. And the polymer chain ends was modified by polyisoprene anion produced in the reaction process. Thus the molecular containing epoxy groups(EGDE) react with polyisoprene anionic, then connected with epoxy group in the polymer chain end. But there is no change in the middle part of molecular. Study the effects of reaction conditions that affected the generation of diepoxy-terminated polyisoprene(DETIR) on the degrees of functionalization. For example, The molar ratio of sodium naphthalene and EGDE, the reaction time of anionic living polyisoprene and EGDE, the temperature of epoxy-terminated reaction, etc. The applications of diepoxy-terminated polyisoprene were discussed in this research. The reaction products of diepoxy-terminated polyisoprene with epoxy resin or polyurethane was characterizated by infrared spectrum, DSC, TGA, etc.2. Epoxydized modification of isoprene rubberThis paper studies the reaction conditions that the double bond of isoprene rubber chain was partially oxidized to epoxy groups by peracetic acid. In different reaction conditions, the epoxidized isoprene rubber with different epoxidation levels could be obtained which lead to the change in polarity of the rubber, and it will effect the rubber performance. Study the effect of reaction conditions on the epoxidation degree of isoprene rubber and ring opening reactions.
