China has the highest proportion of water flooding oil field in the world. Most oil fields have entered high water cut production phase in later periods of oilfield development, especially those in the eastern China. Besides, with complex geological conditions of our country’s oil fields, great difference between crude oil properties and strong reservoir heterogeneity, there still remains 60-70% amount of oil unmined after water flooding process. The X block in Fuyu oil field has entered high water cut production phase in later period since put into exploitation, but the current recovery percentage is only 15.62%.flow unit has been an important method recently to research remaining oil distribution during oilfield development process. But some aspects such as the concept, division and controlling factors have not yet reached a consensus, with weak consciousness of 3D modeling of flow unit and numerical reservoir simulation. This paper is mainly based on literatures at home and abroad and in combination with reservoir characteristics of X block in Fuyu oil field. Then researches on sedimentary facies and facies distribution have been made to propose geological model of reservoir, analyze the cause of flow unit, divide flow unit and establish 3D modeling of flow unit. And by applying those research findings mentioned above to reality, we could predict favorable areas within oil reservoir in Fuyu and Yangdachengzi so as to clear objective for the next step.
