Photo/thermal response materials are expected to become a new generation of molecular switches and environmental catalytic materials, while the main group metal functional materials had attracted widespread attention due to the broad application in optical storage, thermal, catalytic and nonlinear optics. Compared to the mature system of transition metal or rare earth functional materials, primary metals attracted less attention because they do not have unpaired d electrons or f electrons, especially the main group metal complexes with functional organic molecules used in molecular switches and the environment catalytic materials is in its infancy. Therefore, it is significance for the development of new molecular switches and environmental catalytic materials though regulating of the synthesis and structure characterization of the main group metal/organic functional molecules hybrid materials.This paper based on two ideas to build the molecular structure and properties: First, the viologen and niacin molecules with optoelectronic functions were introduced into IVA, VA main group metal halide system, Second, the rare earth metals and IA metal were subjected to exclusive metallization, because dissimilar metals compound combination of two or more different nature of metals tends to have a richer structure and more excellent properties. Thereby obtaining 14 main group metal/organic function molecules hybrid materials by hydrothermal method/solvent heat and natural evaporation method, the formula is as follows:Structural analysis showed that viologen/main group metal halide hybrid system, the structure of inorganic anions cluster are most zero-dimensional, but they can combinate with organic cations together by a variety of secondary key role to achieve dimension expansion. Compound 5 was the fist hybrid oriented synthesised by neutral organic molecules, Compounds 10,11 achieved rare earth metals and IA main group metals complex in the first time, and a chiral helical structure. Compounds 12,13 constructed by aromatic ligand 4-(1-imidazolyl) benzoic acid and transition metal performance with rich multidimensional structure. Compound 2,3,5 had certain light degradation of Rhodamine B, compounds 1,5 have excellent reversible thermochromic phenomena, and Compound 5 is more sensitive discoloration, discoloration temperature is 60℃; discoloration temperature of compounds 5,12,13 is 80-120℃. And the fluorescent of compound 12,13 before and after discoloration occurred weakening or quenching, is expected to become the new switching molecules. These efforts for the development of new switches molecular and environment catalytic material has guiding significance.
