In recent years, polymer materials have taken a greater and greater part in thematerials industry. Polymer composites even have better properties than the rawmaterials due to the synergy effect, which are applied in many aspects such asnational defense, transportation, aerospace, and medicine. In this paper, natural polymer and synthetic polymer were used to fabricategraphene/polymer composites and the properties of the composites were investigated.Graphene oxide/amylose (GO/amylose) composite films were prepared. Thecomposite films were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM),scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TG), UV-visspectroscopy and tensile tests. The results showed good dispersion of the GO in thecomposite films and a significant improvement in the mechanical properties Thestability of the GO/amylosefilms in acidic and alkaline solutions was also studied andthe films had excellent stability in both acidic and alkaline aqueous mediums.RAFT polymerization was used to fabricate polystyrene with π-conjugated endgroups (B-PS) which can be grafted onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO)through π-π stacking. The B-PS/RGO was characterized by TEM, SEM, IR, TG andthe water contact angle. The results indicated that B-PS was grafted onto RGO andthe hydrophobicity is increased. B-PS/RGO can be used to stabilize W/O Pickeringemulsions. Pickering emulsions were fabricated with toluene as the continuous phaseand distilled water, the sodium alginate solution (alg), and the chitosan-acetic acidsolution (cs) as the dispersed phase respectively. The effects of the GO:B-PS ratio, theB-PS/RGO concentration, the oil/water ratio, the pH value and salt on the stabilitywere studied. The hydrophobicity of B-PS/RGO favors the stability. For all the threekinds, the stability increased with the increase of the B-PS/RGO concentration or withthe increase of oil/water ratio. For the emulsions of alg and cs, adding salts increasedthe stability. For alg, the stability of Pickering emulsions increased with increase ofthe pH value. For cs, the stability increase with the decrease of the pH value.
